120 Sunrise Ln Bostic NC is NOT for RENT

Scam Alert

I was alerted to a scam on 5-8-2024 when I was emailed and told that a house I have listed for sale is appearing for rent on Craigslist Asheville.

A quick link, provided by the almost victim showed what was absolutely correct a person masquerading as David Matt had listed this house for rent!

A first for me in my small town of Bostic.

He said you may do a drive by - a drive by might alert you to the fact that this is in a gated community, with no offered amenities, garbage, gas... And $847 a month? With a Security Deposit of $500 and Rant of $847 - you can move in for $1347. All of this is spelled out.

If you read his "letter" explaining why the house is for sale... you'll realize you are not dealing with a typical American.

But the house is not for sale and I want to get this out there.

I ran the picture on Google Lens and it showed up on Craigslist - I flagged the listing and reported this to Craigslist - but be careful out there the world is filling up with Scammers fast.

This is the picture he used - for his main picture and he downloaded pictures from the listing. All of the pictures are cropped to cut out the MLS watermark.

He says his name is David Matt email address davidomatt@aol.com phone number 540 675-9129.

Agents, beware! Know how to flag a listing in Craigslist - click on the flag at the top of the page - and fill out a report - google report a scam on Craigslist. Fill out a report.

And for good measure I'm going over to put a sign in the window that says - This house is NOT for rent.

Letting y'all know. Thank heavens the person who almost rented the house got suspicious and found the listing on Zillow by running the address in Zillow.
